The Great Annual Fish Count

July 2003

Join the National Marine Institute as we participate in this national FISH counting event. Modeled after the Audubon Christmas Bird Count; the event is sponsored by Reef Environmental Education Foundation (REEF). Any interested person can attend our FREE presentation on how to identify local fish and how to count and record fish by using an underwater slate.

When: Friday, July 25 7:00-9:00 pm

Where: National Marine Institute's on site classroom at 3135 East Atlantic Blvd., Pompano Beach, FL 33062, located on the Northeast corner of Atlantic Blvd. and the Intracoastal Waterway

MAKE YOUR SNORKEL COUNT!!

Your participation in collecting data about fish populations can be used by resource managers when making important decisions about our marine resources.

*We must have 25 snorkel participants to reserve the boat and try out our new fish ID skills.*

What: 4-hour snorkeling trip to the Pompano Drop Off

When: Sunday, July 27, 1:30 to 5:30 

Where: South Florida Diving Headquarters (same plaza as National Marine Institute)

How Much: $35.00 per person

All snorkel participants under 18 must be accompanied by a paying, snorkeling adult.

Bring your own snorkel gear or you may rent from SFDH.

A $14 student kit will be available for purchase (includes underwater slate and paper, pocket-sized waterproof fish I.D. book, & scanforms)
